Here’s a confusing one for you today – the word is sick

Now that might sound like a very negative word, but these days sick actually means good!

Confused? Let me help…

If you hear someone say ‘I feel sick’ – this is exactly as you think – they feel ill.

If you here some ‘My new phone is sick‘ – it doesn’t mean it’s not well – it means it’s actually very good.

Now remember this is proper London street slang, so you won’t hear it on the listenings in your coursebook, and only use it if you really feel sure you know what you are doing – but the next time you’re out in the street, see if you can hear it…
