It is one day after the Halloween at the 1st of November in Mexico and they celebrate the death of their ancestors by decorating their graves, building shrines with flowers in honour the deads and by...BRINGING THE SCELETONES IN THE HOUSE DRESSED WITH CUTE DRESSES!!!!!! Do you find that scary?

The day of the dead is a public holiday developed from ancient traditions among its pre-Columbian cultures. A common symbol of the holiday is the skull ofcourse as it represents the sceletones.
At night every person goes to local festival dressed like sceletones and dancing with colorful costumes with the souls of their relatives who came back for one day visit. At midnight on November 2, people light candles and ride winged boats called mariposas (butterflies) to Janitzio, an island in the middle of a lake where there is a cemetary, to honor and celebrate the lives of the dead there.

On November 1 of the year after a child's death the godparents set a table in the parents' home full of sweets, fruits and traditional mexican foods and deserves. This is meant to celebrate the child's life, in respect and appreciation for the parents.
Well, now think about it...If you think that scary is your neighbor's dog, I believe that having your gradpa's sceletone for a day is the scariest thing I've ever heard...




Indeed it is a cute as well as creepy celebration! I wish I could travel there and see this event from close!
