Around 350 BC, Plato wrote two books about Atlantis, which are now the only sources of information we have for Atlantis. Based on his books Atlantis was a circular shaped island, but different from all of the other islands' shapes Atlantis' was divided into four circles, which were connected with one big straight line. Atlantis was greater in size than Libya and Asia combined. This big, mysterious, lost city is said to have been dwelled by semigods, who were punished for their arrogance. Moreover, Plato in his books said that Atlantis was destroyed in one day and night!
Atlantis was built in top of a hill near the middle of the island and it was surrounded by rings of water and land to protect the woman Poseidon once fell in love with, Cleito. At the top of the central hill, a temple was built in honor of Poseidon which housed a giant gold statue of Poseidon riding a chariot pulled by winged horses.
Atlantis looked like this:
Many say that people still believe in the existence of Atlantis as we need a possible place of "Utopia". But Plato describes Atlantis a lot different than what we think of Utopia,he doesn't say anything of being dreamlike. He said that Atlantis is just a myth because the possible Atlantis' locations are too many and because none of them really match Plato's description. But what if I told you that there is a position that completely matches his description? That place is in Spain and it's called Donana. Although many people say that Atlantis was stuck to Santorini and after the volcano's eruption it became detached and was destroyed, but the dates don't match at all.
Archaeologists believe Atlantis was originally there as there are marks that match the surrounding of Atlantis and after they made a test to understand if something was under the deserted land and the test was positive. Furthermore, many miles away some other archaeologists had made a discovery of a place called "Cancho Roano". Cancho Roano is said to have been a memorium of the citizens of Atlantis who had been washed out. A proof that Cancho Roano was a memorium was a Egyptian symbol and according to Platon the story of Atlantis was heard from Egyptians. Moreover, an other symbol was found as you enter that showed Atlantis' circles.
I am convinced that Atlantis is somewhere out there and I'm never changing this idea of mine. If you believe something else okay, I respect your opinion. But I just don't want to hear it...
