Nelson Rolihlahla Mandela

                                             "The father of the nation"
Nelson Mandela was born on 18 July 1918 and he died on 5 December 2013.He was a philanthropist South African man that always hated revolutions. Moreover he was the first South Africa's black chief executive in the period of 1994-1999 after the first fully representative democratic election.

Nelson focused on dismantling the legacy of apartheid through tackling institutionalised racism, poverty and inequality, and fostering. Politically an African nationalist and democratic socialist, he served as President of the African National Congress (ANC) party from 1991 to 1997. Internationally, Mandela was Secretary General of the Non-Aligned Movement from 1998-1999.

Mandela attended the Fort Hare University and the University of Witwatersrand and there he studied law. He supported anti-colonial policies and he was also a founding member of a Youth League. He had been the leader of the anti-racism movement of South Africa, before people voted him for president.

On the other hand of Nelson's path to greatness there were 27 years in prison from the white people of Africa. He was released in 1990 ,because the premier Frederic Willem de Klerk recognized the congress of Africa and they set him free. Immediately Nelson asked for help from  other countries to put pressure on the racism movements of his country. The fact that he was taken out of the prison caused very important changes to the African population. Then, all the racism movements were destroyed. In 1993, after 3 years, he was released from prison ,the Nobel Peace Prize was given to him and he shared it with Federic Klerk.
He lost his son of Aids. He started making projects and studies about it and stated "the only way we can prevent AIDS is to say that we have this disease and not to say that someone who has got this disease is going to hell and not in paradise. All these facts are the reason why African people call him "The father of the nation".
